Our traditional string quartet is the timeless classic string ensemble. Providing a varied programme of classical and light music to suit all tastes for any function requiring a touch of class. alternatives suitable for church or civil wedding ceremonies, civil partnerships, and background music ideal for receptions, garden parties, dinner functions or almost any special occasion you could think of! You can have as much or as little input as you would like in choosing the music for your function. Special requests are very rarely a problem as Steve Fletcher regularly produces new arrangements for this ensemble, and unlike many musicians we do not charge any extra for this service. Feel free to choose specific pieces, guide us with your preferred style of music, or simply allow us to follow the mood of the day performing music in various styles to entertain guests of all ages and tastes. |

Popular string quartet music for your church wedding ceremony could include Pachelbel’s Canon, Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, Handel’s Water Music, Clarke’s Trumpet Voluntary, Bach’s Air on a G String, Elgar’s Salut d’Amour, Schubert’s Ave Maria, Wagner’s Bridal Chorus and Mendelssohn’s Wedding March.
If you are limited on space for musicians in your church, why not book Steve (Cellist in our string quartet, also plays trumpet) as a solo wedding trumpeter (accompanied by the regular church organist), to then meet the other members of the quartet at your reception to provide background music during your Champagne reception and/or wedding breakfast.

The string quartet is a very popular choice for civil weddings. Able to provide suitable music for every part of the day from the arrival of guests up to the end of your wedding breakfast. We have a large selection of music suitable for civil ceremonies, and can provide special requests at no extra cost.

The photograph on this page show us in our standard LBE image. If you feel that this is not suitable for your function, or will clash with your colour scheme we will be happy to discuss alternatives. We do take pride in our smart and presentable appearance, but can understand that this is not to everyone’s taste!

Equipment
We have clip on music stand lights, enabling us to see our music when the venue lighting is dimmed for an intimate atmosphere. We can provide amplification (See below for more details) if required. For garden parties and other outdoor functions, we can provide a gazebo to protect ourselves and our instruments from the sun.

We will ask you to provide 4 chairs without arms and access to a standard UK 240v power socket for our lights (If needed); we carry around 50m extension leads. All electrical equipment is PAT tested to meet health and safety regulations.

Amplification
 Using our discreet clip on microphones and our high quality PA system our string quartet can cope with large venues, or simply add a little reverb in venues with a poor acoustic such as marquees. We have chosen these microphones not only for their exceptional sound quality, but also because of their discreet appearance (No untidy looking mic stands) and the fact that being so close to the instrument they will only amplify the music, not the background noise! Please note that amplified does not necessarily mean loud, we will always adjust the volume to suit the venue and occasion. This system has proved to be invaluable in many situations including large dinner functions with up to 500 guests, marquee wedding receptions (helping to overcome the poor acoustics and carry the sound throughout the marquee), 2 Room functions (musicians in one room and speakers in the other!) and outdoor functions with guests spread out over a large area.

We will arrive in plenty of time to set up and liaise with you, your event organiser, wedding coordinator or toastmaster regarding any details of our performance. We will have spoken to and emailed you in detail prior to your function, so we will already know exactly what is required of us. If there are any last minute changes to the format of your function, you will find us flexible and happy to adapt. We do ask for light refreshments (Drinks and sandwiches or similar), most venues will be used to providing refreshments for musicians.
